The spirit of Christmas comes alive in Jamestown on the first Sunday in December.

Jamestown Pageant day kicks off mid afternoon with shops and market stalls to browse, Christmas carols, roaming entertainers, free face painting and rides on Jamestown’s famous little engine Leo the Loco.

Jamestown’s big October long weekend wraps up with SA’s best one day agricultural show.

Jamestown Cup Day is country horse racing at its best!

Experience the delight of SA’s best regional Christmas wonderland, the Jamestown Magic Cave.

It’s a place of pure excitement, of bright fibre optic Christmas trees and villages, of shining angels, a giant dancing, singing snowman and so much more.

Kids can ride the reindeer and put in a Christmas wish with Santa.

Sheep Markets

For the ultimate country experience, head to the Jamestown Saleyards, home of the only livestock market in the north of SA.

Get amongst the action as auctioneers pick out bids from sheep farmers and stock agents from all over the state.

See sheep dogs cleverly loading sheep onto trucks and enjoy some tasty country tucker at the cafeteria.

Sewing Machine Collection

Amongst the quilting fabrics at ‘Charlenes’ is a treasure-trove of historic sewing machines, dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The machines are predominantly in working condition and include domestic sewing machines, industrial overlockers, and Singer treadles.

Feel free to ask Elaine about the machines. She’s a wonderful source of information about all things Jamestown.

Sir Hubert Wilkins Aerodrome

The aerodrome’s visitor centre is dedicated to Australian polar explorer, pilot, scientist, writer and photographer Sir Hubert Wilkins, who was born at nearby Mt Bryan East in 1888.

Stop by the visitor centre and read the outdoor story boards which share insights into Sir Hubert Wilkins’ fascinating life story.
