Bundaleer Nature Play

My Bundaleer volunteers have created a fun-filled nature play space in the picnic ground with support and guidance from Climbing Tree Creations. The tree fort with slides and fireman poles and climbing challenges was completed in time for the June long weekend and has been popular with local and visiting families. While nature playgrounds may…

Bundaleer Event Centre progress

The event centre, being constructed by Sanders Building Group, is versatile in its design, with capacity for 160 people but equally suited to a smaller gathering. Construction is on target, and all being well, the centre will be available to hire from December 2020. The Bundaleer event centre is the cornerstone of BFCAA’s strategic vision…

Jamestown Mural Walk

Murals on the walls of many Jamestown businesses tell the story of Jamestown’s early days. See Ayr St as it was in 1876, an image of the town’s first motor car, and the butcher shop which has been in the longest continuous use in Australia.

Dr John Cockburn’s Bust

See the bust of Jamestown’s first mayor and doctor, Dr John Cockburn at the eastern end of Ayr St, in the centre of the annual mural festival exhibits.

Dr Cockburn went on to become Premier of SA and prepared the enabling legislation in 1897 that paved the way for Federation in 1901.

Local History Centre

If geneaology has brought you to Jamestown, then the local history centre is for you. Friendly volunteers will help you source information about your family members.

Look through heritage photos, local newspapers (from 1878 to present) and cemetery and school records.

National Trust Museum

Jamestown’s Railway Station Museum has many stories to tell, with themed rooms covering sport, home activities, and social stories.

Featured are some of the people who worked toward making Jamestown what it is today: MS McLeod; Dr James Cockburn; the Gordon family; Sir Hubert Wilkins and inventors Both and Trilling.

4WD Trail

Just north of Jamestown in the Mannanarie Hills is an 18 km 4 Wheel Drive trail (rated intermediate).

Allow an hour and a half to enjoy the scenery from the top of Mt Ngadjuri (with amazing views of Jamestown, Caltowie and Gladstone). The trail is not open in fire danger season.

Golf

Try for a hole in one at Jamestown’s well-designed and challenging par 70 golf course.

The 18-hole golf course (Australian Course Rating of 67) is set in the scenic Bundaleer Forest reserve just 5 km from Jamestown, with eucalypt-lined fairways and stunning views.
